About & data sources
DinkPHX is a Phoenix pickleball court finder (a "dink" is the soft, short shot pickleball players hit into the kitchen). It is an independent directory of City of Phoenix pickleball courts, run by Eric Partin. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the City of Phoenix.
Our one rule
We only publish what a source says. If the City's data doesn't tell us a court's lighting, fees, surface or reservation rules, the page says Unknown. We don't infer lights from closing times, and we don't copy hours from elsewhere.
Where the data comes from
- Tennis Courts and Pickleball (City of Phoenix Open Data, ArcGIS layer Parks Open Data / layer 9). Each record is one court point with only a park name, court type (tennis, pickleball, multi-use), an optional court number and a location. It has 163 records: 38 pickleball and 15 multi-use. Licensed CC BY on the portal.
- Park Boundaries and Sports Complexes layers (layer 10, layer 7) for park address, size, phone number, official page link and amenity flags such as restrooms and shade.
- City of Phoenix Fall 2026 Pickleball flyer (PDF, valid August - December 2026) for outdoor court counts, daily hours and the indoor drop-in schedule. We transcribed it by hand into a structured file and keep the original PDF for comparison.
All raw files were fetched on 2026-10-26 and are kept unchanged alongside the site source, with the URL and fetch date recorded for each.
How we build a court page
- A park gets a page only if the City's published data gives us at least an address, a court count and hours for outdoor pickleball courts. That is 14 parks today (62 courts).
- Court counts and hours come from the flyer. We then compare with the GIS court points. When they disagree (for example the GIS layer marks some courts "multi-use"), we show the flyer number and print the discrepancy on the page.
- When the flyer and the park GIS layer give different street addresses, both are shown.
- "Last verified" is the date we last pulled the sources and checked the page against them, not a date someone visited the court.
Known gaps
- No lighting, fee, surface, net, reservation, or court-condition data exists in the sources used. Those are always "Unknown".
- Amenity flags come from a layer whose description says it was last updated in 2018.
- Parks with only multi-use court points in the GIS layer (and not on the flyer), plus courts run by other cities, schools, HOAs or private clubs, are not covered yet.
- Flyer hours are for August–December 2026 and can change.
Corrections
If something looks wrong, check with the City Parks office first, since the City is the source.
